Boosted
Concept
My capstone, GameSense, was a broad esports app that tracked multiple titles, esports competitions, and in-game progress for users. In revisiting it, I narrowed the scope into Boosted, a dedicated companion app for Rocket League, built as a sibling to FotMob, the popular soccer app.
GameSense was a jack of all trades, master of none. To build a better product, I focused on one version of the app first, in a way that still allows for future expansion to other titles. Boiling the concept down gave me space to create a more intentional experience that worked for a smaller user base. I studied FotMob’s information hierarchy and pacing, kept the patterns fans already know, and adapted the rest to Rocket League’s faster match structure.
The Problem
A gap in the market
This project stemmed from a problem my friends and I ran into while following the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) World Championship in 2026. There was no straightforward way to stay informed about the competition in real time. With Rocket League’s viewership more than tripling over the past five years, it was surprising that no well-known tool existed yet. After talking about it, I decided there should be an app built specifically for this.
The Solution
Jakob’s Law
A major influence on my understanding of product design is Jakob’s Law, which says that users spend most of their time on other websites, so they expect your site to work like all the other sites they already know. Because of the close alignment between Rocket League and soccer fanbases, it made sense to draw information architecture, hierarchy, and design tokens from the best app out there, FotMob. I adapted the fundamental organization and design elements to fit the Rocket League match, tournament, and team structures. This resulted in a system that is both proven and customized for Rocket League fans.

Coverage
Everything here all at once
In the current prototype, Boosted is showcasing the RLCS World Championships that took place in September of 2026. Each team has its own page with its roster, matches, news and achievements, and all 60 players have profiles with their earnings, settings and results.
In its finished state Boosted will give users information about other smaller competitions like Collegiate Rocket League as well as RLCS 2v2 and 1v1 tournaments.
Match Facts
Everything you need before the match
The match facts tab puts everything a user needs on one screen. They’ll find a fan poll, what's at stake, where to watch, the odds, the venue and schedule, insights and each team's recent form.
There are different states for this tab depending on whether a game is upcoming, live, or finished. Because of the varying context, each state prioritizes a different set of information.
Brackets
Double elimination on one board
The World Championship is double elimination, so the upper and lower brackets share one board, with lines tracing where each team drops down.
The completely custom built UI includes round chips that stay pinned as you scroll, so you can jump straight to whichever round of the tournament you would like to.
